Maureen + Nikki

My Mommies
35mm, 120 & Polariod | January 31, 2026

Back in September 2025, I had my first art exhibit at WeHa Gallery, where I showed my paintings, drawings, film photographs, and more. While selecting which film photos to include, I realized something criminal; I only had one photo of my Mom and Nikki, and it was over nine years old! I was truly astonished that I didn’t have more images of my two favorite, most beautiful women on film!

To remedy this, we did the cutest Valentine’s Day-themed couples' photoshoot for my moms at the Suite at Nadia’s Beauty Spot in Branford, Connecticut, on January 31, 2026. Neither of these gorgeous ladies loves getting their photo taken, but we truly had the best time — and I think the photos speak for themselves. They both proved (as I well knew) to be natural models! Fun fact, also pictured with my moms is the love of my life, and best PA ever, Michael ♡

I love capturing couples’ love on camera, and while my work is usually documentary-style, it was so fun to step back into a studio setting. I loved capturing candid moments on Portra 800 across 35mm and 120 film, Polaroid, and digital.

A little side note: This shoot reminded me why I care so deeply about creating intentional spaces through photography, especially in times when so many people feel unseen or unsafe simply for being who they are. Growing up disabled and having gay moms has always made me aware of others’ safety, joy, & visibility. For sessions booked through February, I’m offering a solidarity rate and waiving the studio fee as a small way to support care, access, and community to the people who need it most right now. These sessions are meant to be fun and creative — a space to be seen and celebrated as you are. Whether you’re single or coupled, disabled, LGBTQIA+, Black, Brown, Asian, or Indigenous, everyone is explicitly welcomed here with me. ♡
