Weddings, Elopements & Engagements

Nostalgic, Story-Driven Photography on Film & Digital

Hey there! I’m Briana Raucci, a Connecticut wedding photographer specializing in film. Your wedding day is a moment in time — fleeting, irreplaceable, and deeply personal. My job is to capture it in a way that feels true to you—organic, emotive, and timeless.

I specialize in small weddings (under 50 guests), intimate elopements, and engagements throughout Connecticut, New England, and beyond.

In the past, my approach has been a hybrid of film & digital photography to create natural, emotive, and cinematic images — preserving your story in a way that feels both nostalgic and timeless. However, I’m mostly interested in taking on film-first gigs! Because of my vision and the timeless look of film, 10/10 times when I’ve shot both film and digital, the film looks better!

Film photography is at the heart of what I do. There’s something magical about its grain, softness, and rich depth — it doesn’t just freeze a moment; it gives it life. But don’t worry, I can also take digital backups, ensuring you get the best of both worlds.

Based in Connecticut | Available for travel across New England, New York & beyond.

  • “Kodak sells film, but they don't advertise film; they advertise memories.” ― Theodore Levitt

I shoot film because, to me, it looks more real. That might sound strange to people used to digital photography, where sharpness and clarity are often the goal. But for me, film is the closest representation of how I actually see the world. That’s because I have Visual Snow Syndrome, a neurological condition that causes me to see constant static, much like film grain, over everything.

    What is Visual Snow Syndrome?

Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS) is a rare neurological condition that affects how the brain processes vision. The most common symptom is seeing a persistent layer of noise—tiny dots or static—across the entire visual field, like an old TV stuck between channels. It doesn’t go away when I close my eyes, and it’s always there, affecting everything I see.

    Seeing the World Through Grain

For many, this condition can be disorienting or frustrating. But for me, it’s simply how I’ve always seen the world. And when I discovered film photography, I realized it was the first medium that truly reflected my own vision.

Digital images, with their smooth, hyper-clear precision, have always felt somewhat artificial to me. They lack the texture and movement that are part of my everyday sight. Film, on the other hand, embraces imperfection. The natural grain structure in film images mirrors the static I see all the time, making it feel more organic, more authentic.

When I shoot film, I’m not just capturing a moment—I’m capturing the way I experience that moment. The subtle grain, the soft tones, the way light reacts to celluloid—all of it aligns with how I process the world visually.

Shooting film isn’t just an aesthetic choice for me; it’s a deeply personal one. It’s a way of bridging the gap between my reality and the way others perceive it. In a world where most people see in crisp digital clarity, film photography allows me to create images that feel true to my experience.

  • My favorite thing about photography is finding the beauty in everything. Not very confident? No problem, I’ll see through that and show you exactly how beautiful you and your day are.

When you hire me, you are hiring my artistic style, which is candid, emotive, and timeless. Having studied photojournalism, documentary-style photography comes naturally to me. I love capturing candid moments in time rather than trying to pose you.

Being an artist as well as a photographer, I use a creative spin to capture your memories nostalgically. While we can always do portraits and posing, prepare for fun moments where you laugh together and spend time just enjoying the moment. This creative look will wow you, your family, and friends for years to come.

  • This isn’t just about pretty pictures—it’s about your experience and enjoying your day! You deserve to feel comfortable, natural, and fully present, not overly posed or rushed through a shot list. I focus on capturing real, unfiltered emotions— the fleeting looks, the deep belly laughs, the small but powerful moments that make your love story uniquely yours.

The Film Photography Experience | Your wedding, elopement, engagement, or microwedding on 35mm, 120mm, and Polaroid Film

Going analog means slowing everything down for a minute. In an extremely fast-paced world where we can’t take a moment to sit with our feelings and appreciate things, film forces you to do just that. The 35mm cameras, 120mm medium format TLR camera, and Polaroid cameras that I use are older than me and create beautiful, timeless images that will last for generations, but they require a little extra time to use.

Film is different than digital in that it requires you to manually change settings and wind film by hand. It also means changing the film in and out once you finish a roll. With film, you can’t expect the same fast pace as digital, but that forces the photographer to be much more intentional with the moments they capture.

This means that I will be a fly on the wall, let you enjoy your day, and take my time to be thoughtful and intentional with the love-filled moments I capture. We’ll slow down and document your day in an artistic way that will last ‘til death + some.

    Let’s Connect

We’ll chat about your wedding plans, your love story, and what kind of images matter most to you. I’ll walk you through my process and answer any questions you have.

    Your Wedding Day

My approach is calm, observant, and intuitive. I guide when needed, but most of the time, I let things unfold naturally — capturing the energy, emotion, and beauty of the day.

    The Reveal

Film photography takes time — and it’s worth the wait. I send all film to Gelatin Labs for professional development and scanning.

Once I receive the scans, I spend time editing your images, carefully ensuring every detail is perfected. Final galleries are delivered within 6-8 weeks

Your final gallery will include a mix of film scans and high-resolution digital images (if we take digital photos) — and be a true visual story of your day, timeless and beautifully preserved.

  • I book a limited number of weddings per year to keep my work intentional, sustainable, and film-first.

Books are closed on the following 2026 dates:

    • March 4–7, 2026

    • May 1–14, 2026

    • June 13, 2026

Investment & Pricing

I believe in transparent pricing that reflects the time, expertise, and artistry behind each photograph. If your wedding, engagement, elopement, or event needs something different, let’s chat! I’ll help you create a pricing package that fits your day perfectly. My base prices have been updated on this page as of January 2026.

All Packages Include

  • Film (35mm & 120mm) or hybrid film + digital photography

  • High-resolution edited images sent via WeTransfer or Smash for you to download

Film Customization

My pricing packages now include the cost of 35mm & 120mm film, including:

  • The cost of the roll itself

  • Professional development & high-resolution scanning

Film Options

  • 35mm Film – Classic film look, rectangular frames, slightly more grainy and raw.

  • 120mm Film (Medium Format) – Larger negatives, incredible depth & detail —perfect for portraits and gallery-quality prints. These images are 4x4 inches and square in format.

  • Polaroid – A classic add-on for a retro look. I take the photos, bring them home to create high-resolution scans, and mail back both the originals + the digital scans. Adds $300 to any package.

  • Negative Return (optional): Upon request, after processing, I can mail you the hard negatives at the cost of shipping

  • Black & White or Color Film: I shoot both color and black-and-white film. My preferred method is shooting in color and editing to black & white, but I’ve photographed fully black & white events before, too! Fun fact: my favorite film stocks are Kodak Portra 400 & 800 and Kodak T-Max 400.

  • Negatives can be preserved for hundreds of years, leaving a lifelong physical legacy in a digital world. Film photography is beautifully imperfect by nature, which is part of what makes it so special. I shoot thoughtfully and with intention to ensure full coverage while embracing the organic character that makes film timeless.

Optional Film Scan Upgrades (for the film nerds like me 🤓)

All film packages include professional lab development + Pro-level scans from Gelatin Labs, which are perfect for sharing, printing, and keeping forever. If you’re someone who loves extra detail (or you want the biggest, most archival-quality files possible), you’ll also have the option to upgrade:

  • Super-Pro Scans: higher resolution files with maximum detail. Adds roughly $30 more per roll

  • Contact Sheets: a full “film strip” view of every frame on each roll. Contact sheets range in pricing based on scan quality and size. Adds roughly $26–$38 per roll

  • Add-on prices are based on current lab pricing.

Before I send your film off to be developed, I’ll always check in with you to see if you’d like to add Super-Pro scans and/or contact sheets. If you choose an upgrade, I’ll send a quick invoice for the additional cost. These add-ons must be paid for before development so everything can be processed correctly. Exact pricing can shift slightly depending on current lab rates, so I’ll confirm your totals after the shoot before anything is sent out.

I’m based in Connecticut, but I love traveling throughout New England and beyond to capture your love story. For destination weddings, micro-weddings, elopements, and engagement sessions, custom pricing is available. • Driving beyond 30 miles – $150 per additional hour of travel

  • Destination Weddings – Custom pricing (airfare + lodging required)

❋Frequently Asked Questions❋

  • I send my film out to Gelatin Labs in Maplewood, New Jersey.

  • Editing is where the magic happens. It’s the final step in making sure your wedding photos look exactly the way they’re meant to—timeless, emotive, and uniquely you. That’s why I choose Gelatin Labs for my film scans. They give me complete creative control, ensuring that every detail, from the warmth of golden hour light to the subtle richness in shadows, is preserved and ready for fine-tuning.

  • Film photography is beautiful straight out of the camera, but no scan is perfect right away. Even in the darkroom days, prints were adjusted for exposure, contrast, and color balance. The same principle applies to film scans—getting a quality scan means I can refine the image rather than fight against it.

Gelatin Labs offers Flat Tonality scans, which preserve the highlights, midtones, and shadows without locking in a specific look. This means I can edit each image to match the authentic tones of your wedding day instead of being stuck with a one-size-fits-all scan. They also provide high-resolution TIFF files, which store way more color and detail than standard JPEGs, ensuring that the final edits are rich, natural, and true to the original scene.

    What this means for you

When you invest in wedding photography, you're investing in more than just a moment in time—you’re trusting me to tell your story with care and artistry. The edits I make aren’t about changing reality but about refining and enhancing the beauty that’s already there. By using professional-grade scans, I can deliver images that truly reflect the depth and emotion of your wedding day.

To show just how important this is, I’ll be sharing side-by-side comparisons of unedited vs. edited scans. These examples highlight why quality film scanning and thoughtful editing matter—and why investing in professional wedding photography is worth it.

Your wedding photos should feel as timeless as your love. That’s why I use Gelatin Labs.

  • A signed contract and a 50% non-refundable retainer secure your date. The remaining balance is due before the start of the event. The exact due date will be outlined in your contract and may vary based on when you book.

  • I’m based in Connecticut, but I LOVE traveling and photographing love stories in beautiful, character-rich locations throughout New England and across the United States. Travel Fees: To keep things transparent and simple, travel is handled as follows:

    • Local Travel: Weddings and sessions within 30 miles of my home base include no travel fee.

    • Extended Driving: For locations beyond 30 miles, a $150 travel fee per additional hour of driving applies. This helps cover time, mileage, and wear on equipment.

All destination travel costs are discussed and approved in advance — no surprises.

  • Because I photograph small intimate weddings and elopements, I typically shoot solo. However, if you’d like a second photographer for additional coverage, I can arrange that for an additional fee.

  • Rain can add beautiful, cinematic elements to your photos! However, if needed, we’ll create a backup plan for portraits or adjust our timeline to work around the weather.

  • Galleries are delivered in 6-8 weeks.

    • Large Event Fee: A large event fee of $1,000 applies to weddings with over 50 guests. I intentionally keep weddings intimate (under 100 guests) to maintain a relaxed, documentary approach. This fee helps cover additional coordination, film volume, and extended editing time.

    • Polaroids: Add Polaroids to any package for $300. Includes 10 Polaroids, high-resolution digital scans, and the physical Polaroids mailed to you after the wedding.

    • Film Scanning Options (Optional): All film packages include professional lab development and Pro-level scans, which are ideal for online sharing, prints, and albums. For couples who want maximum image detail or archival-quality files, optional upgrades are available:

      • Super-Pro Scanning: (higher resolution, maximum detail)
Available for an additional per-roll fee (pricing varies based on current lab rates)

      • Contact Sheets: Optional contact sheets showing every frame on each roll
Available for an additional per-roll fee

      • If you’re interested in upgrading your scans or adding contact sheets, I’ll walk you through the options after your wedding and confirm pricing before film is sent to the lab. Any scan upgrades must be approved and paid for prior to development.

      • Not sure which scan option you need? Don’t worry! Most couples are perfectly happy with Pro scans, and I’m always happy to advise if an upgrade makes sense for your goals.

  • The best way to tell if we’re a good match is whether my approach feels like your ✨vibe✨.

For each photography session, I show up as your professional friend with a camera. I’m there to observe, keep things calm and comfortable, capture the joy and the in-between moments, and give you breathing room to actually be present and enjoy your day.

We’ll be an excellent match if you want:

    • Film-forward, documentary-style photos

    • A calm, unhurried experience

    • Natural moments over heavy posing

    • Small weddings, micro-weddings, and elopements with an intimate feel

Not the best fit if you want:

    • A heavily posed, editorial-only shoot

    • A fast-paced, “photo list all day” vibe

    • Full-day coverage for 150+ guests

A quick note about “Pinterest” photos: The photos I capture are true to you. Nothing can be recreated perfectly, nor should it be. I observe the day and photograph moments as I see them unfold in front of me. If you’d like to send over your Pinterest inspiration boards, I can tell you if I photograph in a similar style. However, the best way to know if you’ll love your final gallery is if you already love the images on this page, the galleries under Recent Work, and the photos in my portfolio.

If you’re not sure if we’re a match or not, that’s okay — reach out anyway! I’m always happy to chat and help you figure out what coverage makes the most sense for your day. I want both of us to feel comfortable so you can have the best experience possible.
